If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well! We don't stop once children have learned to swim. As soon as they have the necessary skills and strength they are promoted to the Development squad where they are trained in all four swimming strokes and follow basic training schedules.
Swimmers in this squad will, if they wish, get their first experience of competitive swimming with in-house race nights, club championships and some selected local galas.
Most swimmers in this squad progress to the Junior gala squad.
Development squad sessions take place immediately after the Learn to Swim classes at Queen Elizabeth's Girls School in Barnet on Monday, Thursday and Friday evenings. There is an additional Development squad session on Sunday mornings at 9:30am, and once swimmers have reached a suitable standard they may attend Club night training at Southgate Leisure Centre on Wednesdays.
